Aon : Colonial Secretary,

I forward from certain Junior clerks in this Department an address to the Secretary of State complaining of His Excellency having failed to redress what they pleased to style "a grievance".

I have suggested to the young men that they would be better advised if they refrained from exhibiting themselves in the light of faction and discontented public servants at so early a stage in their career.

My advice has not been favourably received.

As His Excellency is already aware, I did not feel justified in recommending his retirement on pension.
